I started writing as a form of therapy to deal with my bi polar and the bad depressions I get from that. Now I do it because I love it, especially poetry though I still like getting fruity in a short now and then.

It has helped theraputically and I apologise when the miserable depressive writes come out... but sometimes they have to.

I've been playing this by email for months so thought I'd run it here too.

Let's see how long a piece of string really is! Starting with the word "PRAY", change ONLY ONE letter to form a new English word.

I've noticed a lot of you posting in plain text with a set font, size and colour and found some don't know how to change things. This is how I do it:

I often find that certain music puts me in the mood to write and conversation or singing spoils my mood. My suggestion is to put music on and write to it and see what occurs.
My other suggestion is to read (your) poetry whilst playing different forms of music.

Some people write and post their work straight into the forum, and some off scraps of paper they had handy at the time. As a consequence they never saved their work or had a record of it. In view of whats happened over the last few weeks, I would strongly reccomend that you create a file and save your work.

I say this for two reasons, one is to have a record of your poetry and the other is to have a base from which to create more poetry. Keep a clipboard and record your thoughts and...

What poem has inspired you?

I have four that I read nearly every day posted on my monitor. Robert Browning Hamilton (Along the Road), Frost (The Road Not Taken), Rilke (The Walk), and one by Sara Teasdale.

Depending on my focus at the moment, I could probably pick any of those four, but for the best combination of craft and philosophy, I have to choose the Teasdale.
